Meet Ella Jansen

Ella started swimming competitively when she was 9, and found the sport because she enjoyed following in her brother's footsteps. It immediately became one of her passions, and she loved being competitive in the pool. At 16, she made her first Junior National and Senior National team for Canada to compete in the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Junior Pan Pacific Championships, respectively. As Canada's Breakout Swimmer of the year in 2023, she continued to consistently put herself on Canadian National Teams.

Growing up in the small town of Burlington, Ontario, she had to put in more effort than most to ensure she could train at the highest level. The first step she took was a move to compete for Etobicoke Swim Club (eswim), the best club in the country at the time. This brought immediate success and eventually led her to High Performance Center in Toronto. Approximately an hour and a half drive to the pool every day was a sacrifice she was willing to take in order to achieve her dreams of qualifying for the Olympics. All the while, she graduated from high school in 2023 and made the decision to go to the University of Tennessee.

She achieved her dream in 2024, where she competed at the Paris Olympics for Canada and won a bronze medal at the 2024 World Championships. Ella then moved on to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she immediately loved representing the Lady Vols Swim & Dive team. She went on to win a gold and a silver at SECs, followed by a 5th place overall team finish at NCAAs.

She has her eyes set on the LA 2028 Olympics and to continue enjoying her time with the Tennessee Lady Vols.
